Dreams From The Future – Transmission Z3456
Kyrath exists now only in fragments—a city etched in the brittle edge of recollection. Its name hangs like smoke, curling and insubstantial, a place shaped more by absence than presence. To walk its streets, even in thought, is to feel the weight of what has been taken.
From its ruins we’ve unearthed a journal. Its author, neither saviour nor villain, moves in the margins, his life a quiet rebellion against the machinery of fate. His words cut like rusted wire, raw and unpolished, but with a clarity that lingers.
Is there wisdom in such ruin, or only the bitter taste of inevitability? This is no tale to soothe but a shadow cast across the collective soul—a question that lingers, insistent and unyielding.
What truths linger in the shadows of his journey? What threads of meaning weave through his fractured memories? This is survival as reckoning—a challenge to those who would inherit what remains.
Shard One – The Beginning
Date: 2187-04-12
I wander through the ruins of Kyrath, a city once teeming with life, now a ghost of its former self. Each step I take echoes through the empty streets, a hollow reminder of humanity’s hubris. The buildings around me, skeletal and crumbling, are monuments to our collective failure. We reached for the stars, abandoning our home in pursuit of new frontiers, leaving behind a world scarred and broken.
The air is thick with the stench of decay and despair. I see my reflection in a shattered window, a ghostly image of a man who once believed in something greater. Now, I’m nothing but a relic of a time long past, a product of the very society I despise. Kyrath is my prison, and I am its last inmate.
The Veiled whisper in the shadows, their manipulations unseen but deeply felt. They pull the strings of our fractured world, their influence pervasive, insidious. They created me, molded me into their weapon, but even a weapon can turn on its master.
Shard Two – The First Vision
Date: 2187-05-07
Last night, I dreamt of the White Wolf. It stood at the edge of a forest, its eyes piercing through the darkness, a flicker of purity amidst the desolation. It spoke to me without words, its gaze unraveling the tangled web of my thoughts. In its presence, I felt an unfamiliar stir—an awakening of something long buried.
The Wolf showed me visions of a world untouched by human hands, a garden of unparalleled beauty. Quite a jarring contrast to the decaying wasteland I inhabit. I awoke with the Wolf’s image seared into my mind, its silent message echoing in my soul. Is it a guide, or just a figment of my fractured psyche?
Shard Three – The Plot
Date: 2187-06-15
The Veiled revealed themselves to me today, or rather, they revealed their latest manipulation. They’ve been pulling the strings from the shadows, orchestrating events to maintain their control over the populace. Every riot, every act of violence, a carefully crafted performance to keep us in line. And I, unwittingly, have played my part to perfection.
The realization is a bitter pill to swallow. I have been their puppet, my actions driven by their unseen hand. The rage within me burns hotter than ever, but it is tempered by a newfound clarity. The Veiled are not invincible. They are human, fallible, and I will find a way to bring them down.
Shard Four – The Ruins
Date: 2187-07-20
I remember a time when the world was vibrant and alive, a heart-warming mosaic of green and blue. The forests sang with the whispers of the wind, the oceans danced with the rhythm of the tides. Now, those memories are but a cruel reminder of what we have lost. The earth lies barren, a victim of our insatiable greed.
The Veiled convinced us that salvation lay in the stars, that our future was among the celestial bodies. We turned our backs on the planet that birthed us, abandoning it to rot. The irony is not lost on me—we sought to escape our fate, only to ensure its inevitability.
Shard Five – The Tide
Date: 2187-08-13
The Tide came for me last night. A spectral wave that surged through the city, bringing with it echoes of the past. I was submerged in a flood of memories, forced to relive the horrors I had inflicted and endured. Each moment, a sharp knife carving away at my sanity.
In the heart of the storm, I saw the faces of those I had wronged. Their eyes, filled with accusation and pain, bore into me, stripping away the layers of my facade. The Tide demanded that I confront my past, that I acknowledge the blood on my hands. It was a trial by fire, a crucible that left me raw and exposed.
Shard Six – The Fall
Date: 2187-09-30
Kyrath is falling apart. The Veiled’s manipulations have sparked a wave of chaos that sweeps through the city like wildfire. Riots break out, buildings burn, and the air is thick with the acrid smoke of destruction. The society they sought to control is tearing itself apart, and I am caught in the maelstrom.
In the midst of the chaos, I find a strange sense of purpose. The Veiled may have created me, but I am no longer their pawn. I will use this turmoil to my advantage, to strike at the heart of their power. Kyrath’s fall will be their undoing.
Shard Seven – The Crossroads
Date: 2187-11-10
The White Wolf came to me again, its eyes filled with a wisdom I cannot comprehend. It led me to a crossroads, a place where the paths of redemption and ruin diverge. The choice is mine, and mine alone. I stand on the precipice, the weight of my past pulling me down, the promise of a different future lifting me up.
The Tide’s visions still haunt me, but they have also given me clarity. I see now that my actions have consequences, that my choices can shape our destiny. The Wolf offers me a chance to break free from the cycle of violence and corruption, to forge a new path.
As I pen these final words, I know that my time is running out. The Veiled are closing in, their grip tightening around Kyrath. But I will not go quietly. I will send this journal back across time, a message to those who came before. It is a call to take responsibility, to understand that individual actions can collectively make a positive difference.
Perhaps, in understanding my journey, they can avoid the mistakes we made. Perhaps they can find a way to save us from ourselves. It is not enough to dream of change; one must act upon it, for every action, no matter how small, shapes the future.
Draven Solis, signing off. May these fragments of my story light your way in the darkest times and inspire you to take the steps toward a brighter future.
